    How to critique fiction without crushing the author’s spirit

    You don’t have to be an English major, a member of a writing workshop, or a fiction genius in order to give thoughtful and considerate critiques of your peers’ fiction writing.

    Apparently, everyone who is not by definition a “writer” thinks that by giving any critique other than “It’s fabulous, dahlin!” will drive the author to commit suicide. There is a perception that writers (and any creative artist types) are extremely sensitive and temperamental. This is just not true; writers are some of the most resilient people around.
